INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 3, 2016) – A cute photo of an IMPD officer racing kids on bikes is getting a lot of attention on Facebook!

According to IMPD, Officers Roman Williams-Ervin and Stacy Riojas have been using bikes to patrol various areas of the East District throughout the last month.

While on patrol last week, they encountered some kids riding their bikes and Officer Riojas (not pictured) asked the kids if they thought they could beat Officer Williams-Ervin in a race. The kids accepted the friendly challenge, and the race was on!

After the race, the kids told the officers that they had always wanted to play with an officer, and they said they wanted to be officers when they grew up.

Officer Williams-Ervin and Officer Riojas gave the kids sticker badges. One of the kids even told Officer Williams-Ervin that he would win the next race!

IMPD Sgt. Catherine Cummings said, “I worked with both of these officers when I was a supervisor on East District. I am not one bit surprised by this interaction with the community.  This is the norm, not for just Officers Riojas and Williams-Ervin, but for many of our officers patrolling the streets each day!”
