Former IU baseball star Kyle Schwarber, now with Cubs, out for season

Kyle Schwarber will miss the remainder of the 2016 MLB season with a torn ACL and LCL. According to, the Cubs informed reporters of the injury before Friday’s game.

Playing left field for the Chicago Cubs Thursday night, Schwarber collided with Dexter Fowler while chasing down a fly ball. He was carted off the field.

Schwarber played his college baseball at Indiana University, where he was a First-Team All-American and helped lead the Hoosiers to an appearance in the College World Series in 2014. The Cubs drafted him fourth overall in the 2014 MLB First Year Player Draft.
