Two seriously injured after car strikes tree on southwest side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 9, 2016) – Two people were seriously injured after their car struck a tree on the city’s southwest side Saturday evening.

Police say the car hit the tree while traveling westbound in the 8900 block of Camby Road around 5:46 p.m.

The driver and a passenger were trapped, but rescue crews freed them.

Police say the passenger suffered a major head injury. An officer at the scene did not believe the injuries were life-threatening.

Officials say one of the injured people was transported to Eskenazi Hospital. The other was taken to Methodist.
