Man killed after morning crash in Westport

WESTPORT, Ind. (April 21, 2016) – A man was killed after a two-vehicle crash in Westport Thursday morning.

Indiana State Police and Decatur County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash at State Road 3 and Main Street around 7:37 a.m.

Police say Richard LaFlower, 80, was driving a 1992 Buick LeSabre east on Main Strret when he turned north on State Road 3, into the path of a 2001 Nissan Altima, driven by Michael Martin, 42.

The vehicles collided nearly head on at the intersection.

LaFlower was transported to the Decatur County Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by the Decatur County Coroner.

Both Martin and a 17-year-old passenger in his vehicle were transported to the Decatur County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

State Road 3 was closed for about an hour for crash investigation and cleanup.
