Children, driver injured after street sweeper and SUV collide on northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 22, 2016) – A crash involving an SUV and street sweeper left several people, including three children, injured on the northeast side of Indianapolis Friday morning.

According to investigators, collision happened at 38th Street and Shadeland around 4:30 a.m.

Indianapolis Metropolitan police said three small children were transported to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health with minor injuries. The driver of the street sweeper went to Community South after complaining of pain.

Police said the driver of the SUV and another child were not transported to a hospital.

Power poles fell down as a result of the crash, forcing crews to close the intersection as a precaution.
