Muncie police locate person of interest after alerts sent to BSU students about subject with gun

MUNCIE, Ind. (April 22, 2016)– Ball State University students received an alert Friday evening about a potential person with a gun near campus.

The alert was posted on the university’s website:

Information only: Subject with a gun last seen WB from Tillotson/McGalliard in the area of BSU Facilities. Please call (765) 285-1111 with any information. Subject left in older red vehicle, described as a younger white male.

Ball State officials said the report was unconfirmed and sent to students for informational purposes. There was not a credible threat to the campus.

Investigators say the person in question was located and arrested on preliminary charges of pointing a firearm.
