INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 24, 2016)--Good Sunday afternoon! We've had another beautiful day in central Indiana with sunshine and temperatures in the 70s. The diurnal temperature spread was 30 degrees today! Temperatures were five degrees above average.
Tonight will bring a partly cloudy sky with temperatures in the mid-50s for lows. Winds will be south, southeast 5-10 mph. Monday's highs will be in the low 80s with a mix of sun and clouds. Winds will also ramp up with gusts to 30 mph out of the south, southwest. A stray shower is possible across southeast Indiana Monday afternoon. T-storms will arrive across northern Indiana as we go into Monday evening.
As a low pressure system moves from the Plains to the Upper Midwest on Monday, thunderstorms will drift south across central Indiana early Tuesday. Some could be strong with small hail, gusty winds and heavy downpours.
A cold front will move into central Indiana from the north on Tuesday and it looks to stall right near I-70 during the afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms will likely develop along this front in the afternoon. Some could be strong to severe with large hail, gusty winds and possibly a tornado. The biggest risk of severe t-storms Tuesday afternoon will lie near and south of I-70.
Widespread showers and t-storms are likely on Wednesday as another low pressure system moves in. Temperatures will cool to the upper 60s by mid-week. T-storm chances continue Thursday, go away Friday and then return again into next weekend. --Danielle Dozier
