Police investigate after 3 people injured in 2 separate east side shootings
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after three people were hurt in two separate east side shootings early Thursday morning.
Officers first responded to a shooting in the 50 block of South Linwood Avenue shortly after midnight. When they arrived on scene there, they say they found two people injured.
Police say one man was suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm and a possible graze wound to the head. The other was suffering from leg injuries and head trauma.
According to police, it is unclear if the second victim’s head injury was the result of a fall from a window, or another incident. He is in critical condition.
Officers say both men were transported to Eskenazi and the victim with the gunshot wound is in good condition.
About an hour later, police were called to the 700 block of North Bosart Avenue on reports of shots fired. When they arrived on scene, officers say they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
Police say she told them she stepped outside, heard gunshots and realized she had been shot.
According to police, she was transported to Eskenazi with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers are continuing to investigate both of these incidents, but do not believe these shootings are related. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
