INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Chelsea Clinton was in Indianapolis Friday to campaign for her mother, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Chelsea attended a grassroots organizing event at the Hillary for Indiana Office at 7235 North Keystone Avenue around 3:15 p.m.
Chelsea, who announced that she was pregnant with her second child last December, spoke about how important the next president’s role will be in shaping the future of the next generation.
“… I know that whomever we elect as our next president will play a fundamental role in shaping the country, the future, the world and really the values that my children and their generation will grow up in,” said Chelsea.
She also spoke about how she believes her mom is the best candidate to handle healthcare and education reform.
“… it really matters to me that my mom is the only person running for president who has a strong record in being able to deliver progress in areas like healthcare reform and education reform and women’s rights and human rights that she doesn’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good, that she’s willing to work with whomever she needs to work with to be able to get the job done,” said Chelsea.
She touched on the topic of reproductive right of women, a hot button issue in the state of Indiana.
“Because you know all too well in Indiana, reproductive rights are under threat. And what’s happening in Indiana is happening across the country,” said Chelsea.
She also urged supporters and volunteers to get out and vote ahead of the Indiana primary on Tuesday, May 3.
