WHITESTOWN, Ind. – A Whitestown Fire Department K9 has passed away. Buck, 5, joined the Whitestown Fire Department in December 2012.

Lt. Brandi Cunningham bought Buck with her own money, and she trained him as an Accelerant Detection K9. Cunningham and Buck were featured last year at the FDIC.

Buck was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, and he passed away Monday evening.

According to the Whitestown Fire Department, a firehouse dog is a very rare sight in today’s modern fire service, and Buck will be sorely missed by everyone at the WFD and the Town of Whitestown.
