INDIANAPOLIS – Police are investigating after a north side crash left one person dead early Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to a crash report near the intersection of East 54th Street and North Keystone Avenue around 2:30 a.m.

When they arrived on scene, officers say they found a vehicle had crashed into a power pole in the intersection. According to officers, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say a passenger was extricated from the vehicle and transported to IU Methodist Hospital in extremely critical condition.

Officers say the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control and struck the pole.
