FRANKFORT, Ind. –A Clinton County father is accused of shaking his nearly 3-month-old daughter to death.
The suspect, Timothy Beck Jr., is facing two charges , including battery resulting in a death and neglect for failing to report the injuries in a timely manner.
With his head down, Beck quickly walked out of court in handcuffs.
Prosecutors say last week at a home in Kirklin, Beck violently shook his baby.
After the victim’s mother returned home from having surgery, the victim, Brynlee, began shaking and the mother took her to the hospital. Doctors put the girl into a medically induced coma to ease her brain bleeding, but the girl passed away on Tuesday.
According to the affidavit, Beck acted like nothing had happened at first, and the delay in seeking treatment likely contributed to the severity of the brain injury and eventual death.
“Being a young mom myself, it breaks my heart,” said Bethany Perlee.
A small memorial with flowers and stuffed animals was set up inside Booker’s in Kirklin, the restaurant where Brynlee's mother worked.
“When something like this happens, people need love and support,” said Perlee.
Bethany, a coworker of the mother’s at Booker’s, says they’re raising money and accepting donations to help pay for Byrnlee’s funeral expenses, as well as assist the mother raise her other daughter.
“You know as a community everyone has come together. In the past 24 hours, we’ve gained over $2,000 to help this young mother,” said Perlee.
This weekend, the restaurant will be raising money by selling brownies for Byrnlee.
As for the father, he has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is due back in court in July. His family left court without comment.
