INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Five Indianapolis parks are getting several helping hands, thanks to Indianapolis Power & Light Company.

More than 400 IPL and The AES Corporation employees are mulching playgrounds, refreshing murals and cleaning up parks for the 6th Annual IPL Day in the Parks.

The five parks chosen for makeovers this year are:

Ellenberger Park – 5301 E St. Clair Street, Indianapolis, 46219
Washington Park - 3130 E. 30th Street, Indianapolis, 46218
Virginia Lee O’Brien Park – 2300 N Bolton Ave, Indianapolis, 46218
Greene Park – 1700 N Franklin Rd, Indianapolis, 46239
Windsor Village Park – 6510 E 25th Street, Indianapolis 46219

"The whole reason we are doing IPL Day in the Parks is really to enhance the communities in which our employees live and serve," said IPL's Claire Dalton. "We don’t just work in Indianapolis, we live here. We go to the parks. And through the support of Mayor Hogsett and the Parks Foundation and Indianapolis Parks and Rec, we’re able to do that."

Employees are planting 45 trees at Ellenberger Park.

They say their favorite part of the service day is seeing the families show up at the end of the day, excited about the park's facelift.
