INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Police caught a murder suspect early Wednesday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Violent Crime Unit and Gang Unit detectives arrested Devion Tooson with help from the U.S. Marshals Service. Investigators made the apprehension in the 3700 block of LaGrange Court in Indianapolis around 1:45 a.m.

Tooson, 21, was wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Michael Banyard.

On April 23, 2016, officers were dispatched around 1 a.m. to the 9000 block of East 39th Street, where they found Banyard outside and unresponsive after suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators learned that Banyard had been involved in a dispute with Tooson, and detectives obtained an arrest warrant on April 27. Last week, IMPD appealed to the public for information that could lead them to Tooson, who was considered was armed and dangerous.

Tooson is due in court for an initial hearing Thursday.
