Man dies, suspect in custody after near northeast side shooting

In May 2017, Donahvon Troutman pleaded guilty to carrying a handgun without a license and resisting law enforcement. His murder charge was dismissed.


INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  (May 15, 2016)–Police say a man died after being shot in the stomach on the near northeast side Sunday.

It happened near 34th Street and Keystone Avenue around noon.

Police say 30-year-old Jakoby Scott was transported to Eskenazi Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Witnesses at the scene of the shooting gave police a description of the car that the shooter was possibly in. Police say a car matching the description was located near the area of 71st Street and Meridian Street.

A short pursuit ensued and the possible suspect crashed his car near the area of 52nd Street and Georgetown Road.

27-year-old Donahvon Troutman was taken into custody not far from the crashed car.  Troutman faces a preliminary charge of murder.
