Missing man found dead on east side vacant lot

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 15, 2016)–Metro Police homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man found in the area of East 21st Street and North Dearborn Street Sunday afternoon.

Around 2:45 p.m. officers were call to the area to investigate a person down.  When officers arrived they found 26-year-old Tyrone Powell lying in a vacant lot.  Powell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say they are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.

Mr. Powell’s family had recently reported him missing after they were unable to contact him.

This is an ongoing investigation.  Police are asking anyone with information on this case to call police or Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
