Officer Justin Johnson with injured dog

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – An IMPD officer is being praised for the way he treated a dog injured in a car accident.

Officer Justin Johnson of the Northwest District stayed with the dog at the scene of the accident the entire time until animal control arrived.

When FOX59 reached out to police for more information, we were told Johnson was involved in a vehicle accident late last week and is unavailable to provide any further details.

The officer is doing fine and is expected to make a full recovery.
