Homicide detectives investigating after man found fatally shot on east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was fatally shot Monday night.

It happened in the 20 block of Bankers Lane around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Police say medics found the man when they responded to a report that a person had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene and identified Tuesday as 31-year-old Carl Rice Jr.

The scene was cordoned off as a crime lab investigated. Detectives canvassed the area and the Indianapolis Forensic Services Agency processed the scene for evidence. Police are awaiting autopsy results in the case.
