A private investigator hired by Jose Baez, the defense attorney for Casey Anthony, claims Baez admitted that Casey Anthony killed and buried the body of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.
In court documents that went public last month, Dominic Casey said Baez told him he “needed all the help he could get to find the body before somebody else did,” according to WFTS.
The bombshell court records also allege that Casey Anthony paid her lawyer with sex, and that the defense team tried to put Caylee’s murder on the person who eventually found her body in the woods near her grandparents’ home, a man named Roy Kronk, who was working as a meter reader.
Dominic Casey resigned from the case in October of 2008, some three months after he was hired.
In 2011, a Florida jury found Casey Anthony not guilty in connection to the death of her daughter.
Baez strongly disputed the allegations in a statement to PEOPLE. “I unequivocally and categorically deny exchanging sex for my legal services with Ms. Anthony,” he wrote. “I further unequivocally and categorically deny having any sexual relationship with Ms. Anthony whatsoever.”
Baez wrote that “legal action is forthcoming” in the matter.
