INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A man forced his way into an Indianapolis apartment Thursday morning and ended up being shot with his own gun, police say.

Indianapolis Metropolitan police said the disturbance happened in the 9400 block of Stouffer Court. An armed suspect forced his way into an apartment and threatened the three occupants inside with a gun.

According to IMPD, a brief struggle ensued, and one of the apartment’s occupants was able to turn the gun toward the suspect. The gun went off, and the suspect ended up being shot with his own weapon.

He left the apartment and went to Community East around 4:15 a.m. before being transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. The man had a warrant out on a battery charge and is being preliminarily held on that count.
