Police release surveillance photos of suspect in Grant County skimming cases
MARION, Ind. – Investigators in Grant County need help cracking a series of credit card skimming cases.
Multiple agencies are investigating the crimes, which have affected nearly 50 people since June 1. In each case, victims reported unauthorized purchases at Walmart stores across the state, including Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Anderson and Greenwood. The victims still had their credit/debit cards in their possession, leading police to believe their card information may have been compromised.
Investigators found some common denominators in the case: the victims used the self-check at the Marion Walmart and the car wash at the BP on 2nd Street. Police didn’t find any actual skimming devices at the businesses, but investigators said they could’ve been removed.
On Monday, police released a surveillance photo of a possible suspect in the case. He may be driving a white SUV with a bicycle rack on the back that covers the vehicle’s license plate.
Anyone with information about the case should contact Crime Stoppers at (765) 662-TIPS (8477).
