Tip leads to arrest of father-son duo in Richmond homicide case

UPDATE (August 25, 2017): Stephen Via Sr. was sentenced to 4 years in prison.

UPDATE (March 31, 2017): A judge sentenced Stephen Via Jr. to 65 years in prison after he was found guilty in the case.

RICHMOND, Ind. – Police arrested two men this weekend in connection with a previously unreported homicide.

According to the Richmond Police Department, a tip led them to the victim and helped them find suspects in the case. Officers from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and Centerville Police Department detained the two suspects at the Super 8 Motel located at Centerville Road and I-70.

Investigators then located the victim, Stacey Mosier, inside her home on South 19th Street.

They arrested Stephen Via Jr., 29, and Stephen Via Sr., 48, in the case. Via Jr. was preliminarily charged with murder. Via Sr. was preliminarily charged with obstruction of justice and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. Police described Mosier as the girlfriend of Via Jr. but wouldn’t elaborate on the case.

Both were taken to the Wayne County Jail.
