Two men arrested after police seize guns, cocaine, marijuana during traffic stop near Seymour

UPDATE (August 31, 2017)– John Foree pleaded guilty to dealing in cocaine and was sentenced to 20 years with 15 years suspended. He’ll spend 5 years in prison and another 5 years on probation, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

JACKSON COUNTY, Ind.– A traffic stop on I-65 near Seymour on Sunday led to two arrests and the seizure of drugs, guns and money.

Around 4:40 p.m., an Indiana State Police trooper pulled a Dodge Ram truck over on southbound I-65 near the Seymour exit for having expired registration plates. The trooper noticed several signs of criminal activity and searched the vehicle.

During the search, ten grams of cocaine, nearly 300 grams of marijuana, two handguns and nearly $1,500 in cash was found.

The driver, 55-year-old John W. Foree of Frankfort, Kentucky was arrested on felony charges of dealing in cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon and maintaining a common nuisance. In addition, he faces misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Another man in the truck, 67-year-old Kenneth E. Satterly, of Bethlehem, Kentucky was arrested on misdemeanor charges of possession of a handgun without a permit and possession of marijuana.

Both men were taken to the Jackson County Jail.
