BEECH GROVE, Ind. — Beech Grove police are warning residents about scammers after a woman was robbed by two men posing as inspectors.

According to police, two young white men, ages 18-20, solicited the woman at her house on Ash Street. The suspects offered a free property inspection.  One of the men walked the woman to her backyard pretending to survey the area. However, when the men left, the woman discovered things missing from inside her home and fraudulent charges on her bank account.

Authorities believe one of the men distracted the victim, while the other robbed her home.  A neighbor saw a black truck with a red design on the tailgate around the time of the robbery. Police say this truck possibly belonged to the suspects.

Police want to remind homeowners to take extra precautions. They say if someone solicits your home trying to sell a product or service, tell them your not interested and close the door. If they do not leave, call police.
