One person dies in car fire overnight in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- One person is dead following a car crash overnight.

The crash happened just after 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of 79th Street and River Road on the north side of Indianapolis.

Police at the scene said it appears a driver failed to negotiate a turn, causing the car to crash. The car flipped upside down, caught fire and the driver died inside.

IMPD's accident investigators were on a scene and are still investigating.
