MADISON COUNTY, Ind. – Two teenagers were injured after their vehicle struck a tree head-on in Madison County Saturday afternoon.

The Madison County Sheriff Department Crash Team responded to the crash near County Road 300 East and North County Road 200 North around 3:05 p.m.

Officials say it appears the 16-year-old driver of the 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck drove off the east side of the road, then over-corrected and struck a tree.

The driver was taken to Methodist Hospital by ambulance with a broken femur and lacerations to his legs. The 18-year-old passenger was airlifted to Methodist with a broken leg. Both are listed in stable condition.

It is not determined at this time if either were wearing their seatbelt. Deputies say alcohol doesn’t seem to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is on going.
