Silver Alert canceled after missing Porter County man found safe

The Silver Alert for William Connelly has been canceled. Indiana State Police said he was found safe early Tuesday morning in Portage.


PORTER COUNTY, Ind. –The Portage Police Department is investigating the disappearance of an adult from Portage, Indiana.

Portage, Indiana is located approximately 12 miles east of Gary, Indiana.

64 year old male William J. Connelly is 64 years old, 6 feet tall, weighing 185 pounds, with short brown hair and blue eyes. Mr. Connelly was last seen wearing a long sleeve dark green shirt, black sweat pants and a black baseball cap with “Acme Steel” written on it. William J. Connelly was last seen on Monday, June 27 at 5:00 pm CST, in Portage, Indiana.

He is believed to be in danger and in need of Medical attention. Mr. Connelly is believed to be traveling on foot.
