Police identify man found dead on east side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A death investigation is underway on the east side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating after a man was found dead in an alley at Denny Street and 30th Street around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to investigators at the scene, a woman passing by saw the man next to a garage and called police. The victim was identified as 49-year-old Lee Banyon of Indianapolis.

The cause of death is unknown at this time. Homicide investigators have been called to the scene, but for now police are classifying the case as a death investigation.
