INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A 7-year-old boy battling cancer is one step closer to going on a trip of a lifetime thanks to a local basketball tournament.

Jim and Betty Gavaghan started a three on three tournament called the “Gav’s Classic” in 1976. Ten years into it, they started using the tournament to raise money for people and charities in need.

This year, the money raised will help 7-year-old Brody Stephens.

Brody beat cancer when he was just one, but the cancer came back last December.

Gav’s Classic has raised more than $35,000 dollars over all these years.

You can learn more about Brody’s journey here. If you would like to donate to help fund Brody’s trip, you can send donations to Bob Gavaghan at 1321 Roseway Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46219.
