WESTFIELD, Ind.—A couple in Westfield, Indiana woke up to find a touching note left by Westfield Police Department officers.

The note, taped to the couple’s front door, thanked the residents for showing their support to law enforcement by using a blue porch light.

The note read:

Dear Citizen,

We see your lights. While you were sleeping, we were keeping an eye on your home and neighborhood. Your support is appreciated now more than ever.

Thank you.

The couple’s son, who lives in Indianapolis, tells FOX59 News his father is a retired cop from the South Bend Police Department, so his dad especially appreciated the gesture and note left by the officers.
