IMPD searching for suspect after attempted sexual assault of child during break-in
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis police are searching for a man they say attempted to sexually assault a child after forcing his way into a home on the near southwest side Wednesday morning.
Officers were called to the home in the 1400 block of South Belmont Avenue to investigate the incident around 5:30 a.m.
There, detectives learned that the suspect entered the home when the occupants were sleeping and tried to sexually assault the child.
Police describe the suspect as a white male his 30s to 40s, 5’8” to 5’10 tall, and weighing around 170 to 195 pounds. At the time of the incident, he was seen wearing dark blue shorts with yellow stripping or flames on the thigh area of his shorts.
Police are warning residents in the area to remain vigilant and make sure to secure their doors and windows.
