Reckless driver in Clay County high speed chase remains unidentified after crash

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. — Indiana State Police continue to investigate the identity of a person arrested Tuesday for Reckless Driving and Resisting Law Enforcement on Interstate 70 near State Road 42. Troopers discovered the 2002 Ford Taurus, driven by the suspect, was reported stolen out of Louisville, Kentucky.

Just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, the suspect was reportedly passing vehicles at a high rate of speed on the shoulder of westbound I-70 near the 16.5 mile marker, nearly striking two ISP troopers who were waiting for the erratic driver. The driver ultimately lost control, traveled off the roadway and came to rest near a wooded area and fled on foot. Minutes later the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
