Man dies after being found shot in backyard of west side home

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Homicide detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating after a man was shot and killed on the west side.

Police say the call came in just after 1:50 p.m. in the 1100 block of Sharon Avenue near West 10th Street and Tibbs Avenue.

According to police, the report came in as shots fired, and the victim was found in the backyard of a residence. The man was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition where he later died.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old Devon Grice of Indianapolis.

IMPD officers are still looking for a suspect in an earlier shooting that occurred in the 3000 block of West 18th Street around 3:45 a.m. A man, identified as 48-year-old Anthony Jones, was found deceased from multiple gunshot wounds in a car.
