Coroner identifies man found shot to death inside car on west side

INDIANAPOLIS – Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that left one person dead early Thursday morning.

According to police, officers were called to the 3000 block of West 18th Street around 3:45 a.m. on reports of a possible person shot.

When they arrived on scene, officers say they found a man inside a car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Anthony Jones, 48.

Police say Jones was in the driver’s seat, but they are unsure if anyone else was in the car at the time of the shooting. The coroner said Jones died from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide.

Detectives have not released any suspect information at this time.
