Contractor to pay $6,000 after Tuesday morning traffic nightmare on I-69
HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. – A contractor for INDOT will pay $6,000 after creating a traffic nightmare on I-69 Tuesday morning.
Construction crews were re-striping traffic lanes between 106th and 116th streets on I-69, but the work went past the 6 a.m. deadline. As a result, southbound traffic was backed up for miles in Hamilton County during rush hour.
The contractor will pay a “liquid damage assessment” of $6,000 for taking longer for the work than expected, according to INDOT spokesman Nate Riggs.
The work is part of a $21.7 million project to build an interchange with a two-lane, oval-shaped roundabout on 106th Street over I-69.
