NWS confirms 7 tornado touchdowns in Indiana

BROWNSBURG, Ind.– The National Weather Service confirmed Tuesday that seven tornadoes touched down in Indiana Monday evening.

Storms tore through the state, producing reports of widespread damage.

Tornadoes have been confirmed in the following locations, with the corresponding ratings:

  • EF0 Tornado confirmed near Clayton in Hendricks County
  • EF1 Tornado confirmed 2.5 miles northwest of Avon in Hendricks County
  • EF1 Tornado confirmed one half mile east of Pittsboro in Hendricks County
  • EFO Tornado confirmed 4 miles west of Battleground in Tippecanoe County
  • EF2 Tornado confirmed 2.5 miles south and southeast of Whitestown in Boone County
  • EF1 Tornado confirmed 2.4 miles northeast of Sheridan in Hamilton County
  • EFO Tornado confirmed 6 miles northeast of Greentown in Howard County

Survey teams are still out in a few Indiana counties, so more tornado confirmations are possible.
