Woman shot during attempted robbery on far east side

INDIANAPOLIS – A woman is in the hospital after police say she was shot during an attempted robbery on the city’s far east side.

Officers responded to the 10600 block of Lace Bark Lane near the intersection of 38th Street and German Church Road shortly after 1 a.m.

When they arrived, police say they found a 59-year-old woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim told police she had just gotten home after work and was getting out of her car when she was confronted by two men. According to the victim, the men asked her for money and when she said she didn’t have any, the men shot her.

Police say the victim was taken to Eskenazi with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers are continuing to investigate but have not released any suspect information at this time.
