Homicide detectives called to deadly shooting on northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Homicide detectives were called to a deadly shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis Wednesday night.

Officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of North Gladstone Avenue to investigate reports of shots fired in the area.

When they arrived on scene, officers found a man in the 4200 block of East 32nd Street suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the leg.

According to officers, the victim’s femoral artery was hit by a bullet and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him Thursday morning as Ivan Barnes, 41, Indianapolis.

Investigators have not released a suspect description.
