CASTLETON, Ind. – A man wanted for robbery was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police say he fled from troopers and ended up crashing into multiple vehicles in Castleton.

Shortly after 1 p.m., a trooper’s license plate reader alerted him that a passing vehicle was registered to a wanted suspect, Munajj Siddeeq, 20.

Another trooper in the area attempted to stop the vehicle as it was exiting onto 82nd Street from I-69. When the troopers stepped out of their vehicles, police say the suspect drove away at a high rate of speed. The troopers got back in their cars and the chase began westbound on 82nd.

Two blocks into the chase, the suspect’s vehicle rear-ended a car stopped at the Castleton Way traffic light. The suspect continued on, driving westbound in the eastbound lanes. Then, while the vehicle was still moving, he bailed out of the passenger door and fled north on foot. The car continued to roll and ended up striking another vehicle.

Troopers were able to quickly catch Siddeeq. He was transported to Eskenazi Hospital to be checked out. No other people involved in the crashes were taken to the hospital.

Investigators believe Siddeeq was under the influence of drugs. As a result, he was preliminarily charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated , along with charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement (running on foot), leaving the scene of an injury crash and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.
