INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Republic Services is implementing a new trash and recycling collection schedule, meaning people across Indianapolis will need to put their trash out on different days.

The new schedule, which started Monday, affects 60% of Indianapolis residential neighborhoods that have their trash picked up by Republic.

The collection company says the change is a result of an audit that showed the new schedule would greatly improve their services.

“We have invested in automation capabilities that keep our drivers safe, while maximizing our fleet efficiencies and reducing our environmental impact, and with these advancements comes a minor change in the collection schedule,” said Jim Alderman, general manager of Republic Services. “We are dedicated to making recycling and waste disposal effortless for our customers, and keeping Indianapolis clean and beautiful.”

The company mailed affected customers a flier 30 days ago, informing them of their new pickup day. Customers who are unsure when their new pickup day is can visit the City of Indianapolis Government Profile website. They can also call the Mayor’s Action Center at (317) 327-4622 or Republic Services at (317) 917-7300.
