ANDERSON, Ind. – Conservation officers are investigating after two girls were injured in an ATV crash in Anderson Monday night.

Officers and medical personnel were called to the crash on a private property around 6:47 p.m. There, they found Heather Fox, 17, and Makayla Fox, 5, had both suffered head injuries.

Officers believe Heather was driving the 2003 Polaris 90cc ATV through the yard with Makayla in front of her when they collided with a metal sign. Neither were wearing a helmet at the time.

Both girls were transported to Community Hospital in Anderson to be treated for their non-life threatening injuries.

Officers want to remind citizens that wearing a helmet while using ATVs is critical to one’s safety.
