BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A woman was arrested Saturday night after police say she tried to bring a snake into a popular Bloomington bar and then spit into an officer’s face.

When security people refused to let Liberty Flora, 21, into the Upstairs Pub on Kirkwood Avenue, she allegedly began fighting them.

Officers responded and found Flora with the snake in her purse in a nearby alley. She reportedly refused to comply with officers and was subsequently taken into custody, at which point she spit in an officer’s face.

Flora was transported to the Monroe County Jail around 9:14 p.m. with a bond at $2,000 surety, $500 cash. She faces preliminary charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement and a felony battery charge.

Animal control was requested to retrieve the snake.
