COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The lion had a heartwarming surprise.

A man dressed in a lion costume read a story to a class of elementary school students in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Tuesday.

But when he finished the story, this tale was just beginning, reports KDVR.

“I have a special surprise for someone in here today,” the lion said, calling a student’s name. “Someone has missed you for a very, very long time.”

The lion gave the girl some flowers and then removed his head to reveal Fort Carson solider Eric Cook, who’s spent the last 10 months in Egypt, Kuwait and Iraq.

The little girl, of course, is Cook’s daughter, who shouted, “Daddy!” and then gave her father a big hug.

A family cousin captured the precious moment on video.
