Man arrested, accused of murdering motorcyclist on city’s northeast side

UPDATE (September 4, 2018)– Ricky Davis was sentenced to 60 years for Gary Rees’ murder. He received 719 days of jail credit and 240 days of good time credit.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Homicide detectives have arrested a man who they believe murdered a motorcyclist on the northeast side in early September.

Ricky Davis, 23, was taken into custody without incident and charged with the murder of Gary Rees, 44, Friday. He was later transported to the Arrestee Processing Center for processing.

Rees was found next to his motorcycle with at least one gunshot wound in the 4100 block of Tahoe Court around 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 3. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives originally believed the shooting was a result of gang violence, but they’ve determined that it was not.
