Colts sign wide receiver as team awaits word on injury status of Donte Moncrief
As Indianapolis Colts fans await word on the status of wide receiver Donte Moncrief, the team has added a wide receiver to bolster depth at the position.
The Colts signed third-year pro Devin Street from the New England Patriots practice squad, the team announced Wednesday. Street, 6’3”, 200 pounds, signed with the Patriots on Sept. 5, 2016. He participated in the Dallas Cowboys’ offseason program and training camp before being waived.
Street has played in 31 NFL games, catching nine passes for 132 yards and a touchdown. The Cowboys drafted him in the fifth round (146th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.
In 2015, Street appeared in 15 games (two starts) and caught seven passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. In 2014, he played in all 16 games.
Street played college football at the University of Pittsburgh, where he had 202 receptions for 2,901 yards and 16 touchdowns. He finished his collegiate career as the school’s all-time leader in receptions.
The Colts waived Winston Guy Tuesday to open up a roster spot, a curious move considering the number of injuries in the secondary. Now fans have to wait to hear about the status of Moncrief, who left the Broncos game with a shoulder injury.
