SPEEDWAY, Ind. -- Crews are getting ready for a race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but it’s not on the track.

The Red Bull Air Race is happening at IMS this weekend. You can watch master class pilots as they navigate around an aerial race track in the sky.

On Tuesday, crews started assembling the planes at the Indianapolis International Airport. The Red Bull Air Race World Championship as a whole involves eight separate racing events across four different continents, but this is the first time one of the air races will be taking place at IMS.

“We're finally lucky enough to come to the motorsports center of the planet," said event technical director James Reed.

Also happening at IMS, officials plan to announce more about the new "Indy Women in Tech Championship" event, which will take place at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course. Area leaders plan to unveil more details Tuesday afternoon at IMS.

Officials say the event will feature the best female golfers in the world. It’ll be held September 4th - 10th in 2017.
