BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Tuesday morning.

Police say the robbery occurred at 12 a.m. near Dunn Woods, the wooded area south of Franklin Hall and east of Bryan Hall.

A male student said he was alone listening to music while sitting on a bench in Dunn Woods when he saw a male pass in front of him.

A minute later he was grabbed from behind and a metal object was placed to his head.  The victim never saw the weapon, but he believes it was a gun.

The suspect demanded the victim’s belongings, so he complied and handed over his cell phone and wallet.

The victim described the suspect as an African-American male, approximately 5’9” tall, weighing approximately 175 pounds. The victim said the suspect was in his late 20’s to early 30’s, and he was wearing a blue hooded jacket.

According to the victim, the suspect fled on foot in a northwest direction.  The victim reported hearing the suspect talking, so it’s possible that more than one suspect was involved.

The victim was not injured.
