INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- You might notice more students walking on Wednesday morning during the 20th annual International Walk to School Day.

Students in our area will join walkers in 40 countries around the world, with more than 5-thousand events planned in the U.S. alone.

Organizers say statistics show that today, just 13% of kids usually walk or bike to school compared to 50% in the late 1960’s.

The Indiana Safe Routes to School Partnership and Health by Design will lead the local effort here, encouraging students to get exercise before class.
