SOUTHPORT, Ind.—A FOX59 viewer in Southport, Indiana was surprised to find a letter from the police department in his mailbox.

The police department thanked Bill Richmann for supporting law enforcement by using a blue porch light.

The note read:

While you were sleeping, we were patrolling your neighborhood. Your blue light did not go unnoticed. We promise that we are holding the line the best we can to protect the ones we serve. Thank you for your support of law enforcement. We, brothers and sisters in blue, appreciate you.

You matter to us,

Southport Police Department

“We installed the blue light about a year and a half ago to show our support for our police officers that risk their lives every day. We were very surprised to read the letter. That just shows that they really do pay attention to everything,” Richman said.
