Police arrest teen, looking for another person of interest after Anderson teen found shot to death

ANDERSON, Ind. –A 17-year-old was arrested on aiding and inducing murder charges in connection with a deadly shooting.  Police in Anderson identified an 18-year-old fatally shot Thursday night and said they still looking for a person of interest in the case.

Officers were called to the 1800 block of West 21st Street around 5:20 p.m. Thursday, where they found a teenager dead near the home’s driveway.

He was identified Friday as Shaolin Newsom. Anderson police said Newsom was transported St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital but died from his injuries.

The 17-year-old suspect, Tyrone Jones, is being charged as an adult in the case.

After speaking to witnesses about the shooting and the circumstances leading up to it, police want to question 18-year-old Jalen Brown. The Marion teen is considered a “person of interest” in the shooting, police said.
